2025 Year in Review

I’ve held off on publishing my annual Year in Review post in the hopes of being finished restoring all the videos to MASH4077TV.com. I’m close but only 75-80% done and the remaining videos are going to take more time because I have to pull out VHS tapes, digitize what I need, then edit the files before uploading and finally embedding them. I’ll post separately when I’m finally done.

Here’s everything that happened in the world of M*A*S*H during 2025. “Goodbye, Farewell and Amen” celebrated its 42nd anniversary on February 28th, M*A*S*H celebrated its 53rd anniversary on September 17th, and finally AfterMASH celebrated its own 42nd anniversary on September 26th.

Goodbye to Loretta Swit

2025 was a sad year for the M*A*S*H fan community. We lost another member of the cast when Loretta Swit passed away on May 30th at the age of 87. Her death leaves just four main cast members still alive: Alan Alda, Gary Burghoff, Jamie Farr, and Mike Farrell. Swit was included in the In Memoriam segment during the 77th Emmy Awards on September 14th.

There were sadly a number of other deaths in 2025. Actress Lynne Marie Stewart, who guest starred in five episodes of M*A*S*H during Seasons 4 and 5, died on February 21st. Actor Patrick Adiarte, who played Ho-Jon during the first season of M*A*S*H, died on April 15th. Actor George Wendt, best known as Norm on Cheers but also a M*A*S*H guest star, died on May 20th. Actor Rick Hurst, who guest starred in “Fade Out, Fade In” to kick of Season 6, died on June 26th. Scripwriter David Ketchum, who co-wrote the Season 1 episode “Tuttle” with Bruce Shelly, died on August 10th. Finally, actress Marcia Rodd, who played Nurse Lorraine Anderson in the Season 6 episode “Temporary Duty,” died on December 27th.

Other News

There was very little other M*A*S*H news in 2025. A December auction from Heritage Auctions included several M*A*S*H items, including a signed script for “Say No More” and a wooden sign from the Officers Club.

Happy New Year

As always, and despite it not being applicable to everyone and in all situations, I’m going to wrap up my 2025 Year in Review with a quote from the Season 9 episode “A War For All Seasons”:

Colonel Potter: “Here’s to the new year. May she be a damn sight better than the old one, and may we all be home before she’s over.”

There was another mention of New Year’s Eve in “Hot Lips and Empty Arms” during Season 2, plus jokes about New Year’s Eve or Day in “Yankee Doodle Doctor” (Season 1), “The Army-Navy Game” (Season 1), “Out of Sight, Out of Mind” (Season 5), “Your Hit Parade” (Season 6), and “Communications Breakdown” (Season 10).

Happy New Year, M*A*S*H fans. Let’s stay healthy, happy, and continue enjoying M*A*S*H in 2026.

  1. Hey RJ. Just wanted to send a quick thank you for your hard work and dedication on keeping this website going. I kinda miss not seeing the regulars here from years ago (BDoR, PinkPagoda, Chai, etc).

Any chance of starting up the Name That Episode again?

Thanks again and Happy New Year to you!
