The upcoming December Hollywood Signature Auction from Heritage Auctions includes three M*A*S*H items, most notably a board game handcrafted by Alan Alda and his wife Arlene. The auction runs December 9-10th and features more than 600 lots, headlined by items from The Wizard of Oz, original artwork from Frank Frazetta, and lots of props and costumes from the Star Trek franchise.
The M*A*S*H items are:
- Lot #38149 – A final draft script for “Say No More” signed by Alan Alda, Harry Morgan, Mike Farrell, David Ogden Stiers, Loretta Swit, Bill Christopher, and Jamie Farr plus a final draft script for “Goodbye, Farewell and Amen” (Current Bid: $625)
- Lot #38150 – A painted wooden “4077th Med Co Air Ambulance” seen in the Officers Club (Starting Bid: $1,000)
- Lot #38151 – “The M*A*S*H G*A*M*E,” a board game created by Alan and Arlene Alda in 1973 as a Christmas present for producer Perry Lafferty in 1973. I recall seeing this game in a previous auction, perhaps a Profiles in History auction, but can’t recall the details. (Starting Bid: $2,000)
The signed “Say No More” script is particularly noteworthy due to the inclusion of David Ogden Stiers, whose autograph is difficult to come by. The air ambulance sign is very nice and I wouldn’t mind having it hanging in my office — if it wasn’t going to cost at least $1,000 to own it. The board game may not technically be related to the TV show but it’s an interesting curio nonetheless.
