Actress Marcia Rodd, who played Nurse Lorraine Anderson in the Season 6 episode “Temporary Duty,” died December 27th, 2025 at the age of 87. News of her death was only reported earlier this week. In addition to her guest role on M*A*S*H, Rodd guest starred in a 1980 episode Trapper John, M.D. before landing a recurring role on that show, appearing in 13 episodes between 1982 and 1986.

Rodd made two guest appearances on the CBS sitcom All in the Family in 1972, including the episode that served as a backdoor pilot for Maude, in which she played Maude’s daughter. However, she did not continue the role when Maude became its own show. She was a series regular in two short-lived sitcoms: The Dumplings (NBC, 1975-1976) and 13 Queens Boulevard (ABC, 1979).
She also had guest roles on a wide variety of TV shows during her career, including Medical Center, Phyllis, Quincy, M.E., Night Court, 21 Jump Street, ER, and Grey’s Anatomy.
On the big screen, she appeared in movies like Little Murders, Citizens Band, The Scout, and American Christmas. Rodd earned a Tony Award nomination for her role in the 1973 Broadway musical Shelter. She also had roles in Oh What A Lovely War, Love in E Flat, Last of the Red Hot Lovers, and I’m Not Rappaport.
According to her Internet Movie Database page, Rodd’s final acting job was a movie titled Dante’s Hotel, released on the streaming service Tubi in 2023.

Just saw this episode and it turned out to be a turning point in Margaret’s character development. Lorraine’s incisive calling-out of Margaret’s closed-off nature made this worth watching.
RIP to an underrated guest star.
May God bless and rest her soul.
