The 77th Emmy Awards aired last night on CBS and Loretta Swit, who died May 30th at the age of 87, was included in the award ceremony’s In Memoriam segment. Introduced by Phylicia Rashad, the segment featured the song “Go Rest High On that Mountain” performed by Vince Gill and Lainey Wilson.

The In Memoriam segment also included M*A*S*H guest stars Teri Garr and George Wendt.
Television Academy Chairman Cris Abrego mentioned M*A*S*H in a speech praising the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as well as television’s ability to tell stories to unite viewers. I can’t find a video of his speech, but the Los Angeles Daily News has a quote:
“That’s a reminder of just how much our work here matters, especially right now, in a time when division dominates the headlines, storytelling still has the power to unite us. Television and the artists who make it do more than reflect society. They shape our culture, and in times of cultural regression, they remind us what’s at stake and what can still be achieved. ‘M*A*S*H*,’ [sic] ‘Roots,’ the late great Norman Lear’s entire body of work, ‘Will and Grace,’ ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ ‘South Park,’ the legacy of late-night for generations. For generations, artists have seized the power of television status quo and bent that art towards the art of history, towards justice.”
