I don’t usually watch M*A*S*H on Hulu. As I’ve explained in the past, I prefer to watch the show in its original 4:3 full screen aspect ratio, not cropped to 16:9 widescreen on Hulu. So I don’t know how long Hulu has categorized M*A*S*H as an action comedy. I first noticed this odd placement while browsing Hulu on my TV but it’s the same on the Hulu website. Other TV shows in the Action Comedy category include Teen Titans Go!, What We Do in the Shadows, The Last Man on Earth, and Rescue Me.
I don’t think M*A*S*H is an action comedy.

Curiously, when you click on the You May Also Like tab, the TV shows listed are not the same TV shows in the Action Comedy category. Many of the TV shows listed in the You May Also Like tab are similiar to M*A*S*H. Viewers who watch M*A*S*H may also enjoy The Mary Tyler Moore Show or Cheers, for example. On the other hand, Lost in Space, CSI, and Murdoch Mysteries have little in common with M*A*S*H.
Hulu has a Sitcom category that better fits M*A*S*H. There’s also a Classic Comedies category that’s an even better fit. The four TV shows currently in the Classic Comedies are The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls, Cheers, and Designing Women.
I’m not concerned enough about M*A*S*H being in the wrong category to actually try to contact Hulu about the issue. But I do find it mildly amusing that Hulu thinks M*A*S*H is an Action Comedy and thought I should share.

What I will never understand is how and why TEEN TITANS GO! is so successful when it’s really a watered-down, sappy, stupid show; the original TEEN TITANS series was so much stronger, grittier, and a truly action comedy. It’s almost like THE BOB NEWHART SHOW vs. NEWHART: the former was the more groundbreaking show for its time, yet didn’t last nearly as long as the latter, which was far wackier and sillier . . . same with TEEN TITANS and TEEN TITANS GO!: the former was a groundbreaking show for it’s time, yet the latter is still going and is way sillier and wackier than the former. I know that really has nothing to do with M*A*S*H, but when I saw the option for TTG next to M*A*S*H in the screencap, it prompted me to think that.
