To celebrate the 50th anniversary of M*A*S*H, I’m taking a weekly look back at what episode of M*A*S*H aired five decades ago on CBS.

The 11th episode of M*A*S*H aired 50 years ago today. “Germ Warfare” aired for the first time on Sunday, December 10th, 1972 on CBS.

Here’s the capsule summary from my Episode Spotlight for the episode:

Hawkeye and Trapper siphon Frank’s blood to treat a North Korean soldier, leading them to worry he might be infectious.

A suite composed by Johnny Mandel for this episode is included in a soundtrack collection released by Kritzerland Records in April 2018.

“Germ Warfare” was one of 20 episodes included in The Hallmark Channel’s “M*A*S*H Bash 2007,” hosted by Wayne Rogers. The 12-hour marathon aired Monday, January 1st, 2007.

  1. Background and sound effects that added to the “zanyness” of the the show. For instance in Germ Warfare, the use of the slide whistle when Trapper and Hawkeye were siphoning blood from frank.
