More than a decade ago, I transcribed the episode summaries for M*A*S*H originally published in TV Guide magazine. The library where I was able to find bound copies of TV Guide started with 1974, so I don’t have summaries from the first season. I do have summaries for the first half of Season 2 that aired in 1973 thanks to repeats of those episodes that aired in 1974.
I’ve added a new page to the Episodes section of MASH4077TV.com with the summaries from Season 2 and Season 3. I plan on adding additional summaries as soon as possible.
Here are a few of the episode summaries:
02×05 “Dr. Pierce and Mr. Hyde”
Saturday, October 13th, 1973
Hawkeye has been operating so long he just can’t quit-and no one can stop him. Alan Alda, who plays the haggard Hawkeye, coauthored the script.
[Summary from the May 4th, 1974 repeat.]2×20 “As You Were”
Saturday, Febraury 2nd, 1974
Frank chooses a lull in the action for his hernia operation, and that’s just when the war resumes full tilt.03×06 “Springtime”
Tuesday, October 15th, 1974
The onset of spring brings out the sap in everyone, especially in a patient (played by former Detroit Lion Alex Karras) who can’t thank Hawkeye enough for saving his life.03×18 “House Arrest”
Tuesday, February 4th, 1975
Hawkeye is confined to quarters awaiting court martial after punching Frank in the eye.
Who remembers reading M*A*S*H episode summaries in TV Guide?
