48th Anniversary of M*A*S*H

M*A*S*H celebrates its 48th anniversary today. The series premiered Sunday, September 17th, 1972 on CBS alongside two other new sitcoms: Ann and the King and The Sandy Duncan Show. Both of those shows ended after just 13 episodes but M*A*S*H, despite weak ratings during its first season, remained on the air until February 1983.

Did you watch the series premiere 48 years ago?

  1. It was nine years before I was born, so no. 🙂

I have to say that the pilot is very strong. Very strong. It also has a lot of the vibes from the movie, that the show would lose as time went by. However, I think the season 2 opener is an even stronger pilot.

  2. Not till much later, as I was at the time but a wee waif, a whisker from 1 year old.

  3. I was like 2. I did catch the marathon weekends that they played it back to back until the end. My dad was a big fan. One of the few things we got along doing when I was younger. Taped them all off of NBC.
Kinda wish I still had that collection. Considering he hits 70 this year it would be nice to have something to go back and watch after he moves onto whatever is next.
