  1. I’ll start firing up the first season DVD’s tomorrow or maybe tonight. It’s a shame that Fox isn’t doing anything to mark the anniversary.

    1. I’m just a little disappointed there isn’t more hype about the 40th anniversary… I mean, back in 2009, Sesame Street was given a full-blown celebration by almost everybody when they reached their 40th season, I remember thinking if there was this big a celebration for their 40th that year, imagine what their 50th anniversary/season will be like in 2019.

  2. You would think they’d make at least a token effort to mark the anniversary.

Anyone know if there are any plans for a Blu Ray release?

    1. Yeah… like back in January, YouTube was the only one who marked Sanford and Son‘s 40th anniversary… but then again, I don’t S&S was quite as big or impacting a series, considering wasn’t it basically not only supposed to be like a sister show to the already-existing All in the Family (both created by Norman Lear), but it was basically an American adaptation of a Britcom as well.

As for Blu-ray, I think the 1970 movie is on Blu-ray, but as far as season sets of the series, I don’t think so.
