Alan Alda underwent an emergency appendectomy in Chile early on Sunday for “intestinal obstruction,” according to an article at CNN.com. According to the article:
[Alda] was operated on early on Sunday for an intestinal obstruction and was recovering at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in La Serena 290 miles (470 km) north of the capital.
Hospital Director Julio Rojas told Chile’s Cooperativa radio station that Alda had asked for no visitors and was expecting his wife to arrive later on Monday.

The actor, who was working on a TV documentary in Chile at the time, was taken to the hospital where doctors quickly decided to operate, she said.
Alda would probably be released Tuesday, a hospital official said.
I personally wish Alda a speedy and full recovery.
