Re: What are your favorite songs?
You know, I have a lot of songs that I really enjoy that the list would simply be far too long...
However, there is one song that's something pretty special to me, much like how "Sentimental Journey" is to Potter; that song is "Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows... I already liked it when I first heard it on the soundtrack for Shrek 2, not to mention Counting Crows is a pretty good group, but the song actually later meant something to me, because that actually happened, I was indeed accidentally in love with someone I wasn't really supposed to fall in love with (because she was already taken).
On that note, there's also a song with her name in it that's pretty special to me as well, lol... I won't reveal the name or the song, but I will say it's an OLD Hall and Oates song.

Hall & Oates are cool dudes! I dig their stuff very much. They've seem to only get more popular over the years, and built up a huge sort of cult following.
Counting Crows are awesome too, very chill laid back tunes. I'm glad you mentioned them, that just made me remember a song by them a haven't thought of in a long time called "A Long December" One of my favorites.

Re: What are your favorite songs?
Lol, well the 80s is my favorite period for music, so I hear Hall & Oates quite a bit, though I do dig 'em, and you're right, they do seem to be one of those groups who keep growing in popularity (and cult followings) with the passing decades... kind of like Stevie Nicks, lol. And MrsTuttle, lucky you! I know John Oates came to my town recently, though I missed seeing him.
And getting back to Counting Crows, exactly, in a world where the current trends in music are rap, hip-hop, and crazy Lady Gaga racket, I love their music for how laid back it is... I've recently gotten hooked on their "Big Yellow Taxi" (or as I think it should be titled, "The Day Paradise Put Up a Parking Lot").

What a wonderful tune, I get goosebumps hearing Slash wail on those solos. Brings back great memories from the midwest in summer, listening to Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Guns N' Roses heavily.Jeeter wrote: November Rain-Guns N' Roses

George rocks!Mash4Ever wrote:Any George Harrison Songs
I love The Beatles and all the solo stuff I've heard, just total legends, John especially. George Harrison was the one who struck a chord with me for some reason. Maybe being "the quiet Beatle" I identified with him. I just always loved his attitude and everything he was involved with from the early days with The Beatles, his solo work and The Traveling Wilburys. Just one of the chillest, coolest dudes.
Even as a kid I took a liking to George. The memories are hazy, but I've been told that when I was a kid, I was rockin if I heard "I Got My Mind Set On You" on the radio.

Re: What are your favorite songs?
Most of the music I like are album tracks. As this forum is predominantly seen by Americans, some of the bands will probably be unknown, but I can't help that. You could always look them up on YouTube! Here goes...
"Starless" by King Crimson, from the album "Red",
"Loose Fit (Perfecto Mix)" by Happy Mondays, from the "Loads" compilation album,
"Wishing (I had a Photograph)" by A Flock of Seagulls,
"Pampered Menial" - the entire album by Pavlov's Dog,
"Electric Ladyland" - the entire album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience,
"The Sun Always Shines on TV" by A-Ha,
"Duel" by Propaganda,
"Relax" (the original 12" version) by Frankie Goes to Hollywood,
"A Day in the Life" by The Beatles,
"Forgotten Town" and "Hooverville" by The Christians,
"Blood Bitch" by The Cocteau Twins,
"Stroke #2" by Mike Dickson,
"One Day Like This" by Elbow,
"10538 Overture" by The Electric Light Orchestra,
"The Weaver's Answer" (single version) by Family,
"Oh Well" and "The Green Manalishi" by Fleetwood Mac (long before the "Rumours" dreck),
"Stupid Girl" by Garbage, There's a few other tracks, but I can't remember the titles,
"Watcher of the Skies" by Genesis, from the "Genesis - Live" album,
"Spunk Rock" by Man, from the "Greasy Truckers" album,
"Earth Shanty" by The Groundhogs, from the "Hogwash" album,
"The Faith Healer" by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, from the "Next" album,
"The Witches Promise" and "Life's a Long Song" by Jethro Tull,
"Sailor's Tale" by King Crimson, from the album "Islands",
"C'mon" by Man, from the album "Back Into the Future",
"I'd Rather be the Devil" by John Martyn, from the compilation album "So Far, So Good",
"Dancing the Night away" (12" version) by The Motors",
"One of these Days" by Pink Floyd, from the "Meddle" album,
"Fear of a Blank Planet" and "Way Out of Here" by Porcupine Tree, both from the "Fear of a Blank Planet" album,
"Loosing my Religion" by R.E.M.
"Gimme Shelter" and the instrumental version of "2000 Light Years from Home" (the latter is only available on YouTube) by The Rolling Stones,
"Crazy" by Seal,
"Killer" by Adamski (vocals by Seal),
"Temple of Love" by The Sisters of Mercy, from the compilation album "A Slight Case of Over-Bombing",
"This Town Ain't Big Enough for Both of us" and "Thank God it's Not Christmas" by Sparks, from the album "Kimono My House",
"Five Minutes" by The Stranglers,
"Joan of Arc" and "Maid of Orleans" by Orchestral Manoeuvres In the Dark, from the "Architecture & Morality" album
"Benedictus","Queen of Dreams" and "New World" by The Strawbs, all off the "Grave New World" album,

"Emerald" by Thin Lizzy, from the "Jailbreak" album,
"How Soon is Now" by The Smiths, and...
"Wherever I Lay my Hat", "Love of the Common People" and "Come Back and Stay" by Paul Young, from the "No Parlez" album.
