Does the present day tensions with North Korea effect your enjoyment of watching M.A.S.H nowadays?

Talk about all things M*A*S*H -- the novel, the film, the television series, even the play. Not to mention the spin-offs, merchandise, cast, crew and anything else you can think of to talk about.

Does the present day tensions with North Korea effect your enjoyment of watching M.A.S.H nowadays?

Post by Nanoose »

It does it to me sometimes - like sometimes I will be relaxing and watching an episode then I start thinking there could be another Korean war any day now and it's a bit hard to get back into the episode. Cheers and happy weekend!

To be fair, the Korean War has never really officially ended, it's just sort of been put on hold as it war all these years: a truce was signed, but never a peace treaty, so the war could start up again at any given moment, as you say. The tensions never really went away, and as we've seen over the years, South Korea has grown into a thriving country of its own, while North Korea has remained just as backward and poverty-stricken as the entire penisula was depicted on the show. The tensions don't necessarily effect my enjoyment of the show, much like neo-Nazis crawling out of the woodwork in America don't effect my enjoying HOGAN'S HEROES; my major concern is the idiot we have in Office making a mockery of ourselves could get us into a war with just about any country and at any given time the way he's alienating our allies, pissing off our enemies, and turning one of our most notorious enemies into our new best friend since they helped him get into Office.

I wouldn't be surprised if I had a had a hard time watching Hogans heros now a days. I was probably only 10 when that show came out and I didn't know anything about nazis - now I know what they did and how they and other hate groups seem to be growing instead of going away. Cheers!

It's not really curbed my enjoyment but it has made me stop wearing my M*A*S*H T shirts on dress down Fridays as I'm not sure they are in the best of taste in the current climate.

Ya I think you should dam the torpedoes and keep wearing your t-shirt even if people think it isn't appropriate. M.A.S.H pointed out that there are lots of casualties to war and by wearing your t-shirt you could be pointing out that it will happen again if Trump doesn't become more diplomatic. Cheers!
