There's been quite a bit of speculation that this script was a holdover from the "Frank Burns era". Since Frank had very little to with the locals throughout his stay, having him suddenly befriending them, even for a slimy business deal, might seem a stretch. Whatever the case "Change day" is an above average episode. All of the storylines are pretty strong, From Charles buying old Army script at 10 cents on the dollar to Klinger's scheme of getting into West point, (only to get thrown out)

I thought the money change racket was out of character for Charles. Certainly Charles likes having money and takes some sport in making more... but I think he'd see taking advantage of the locals as ungentlemanly and dishonorable. Even Charles pressuring his tailor to participate by holding out on what he promised to pay him was dishonorable and not following the rules of business. I don't know if this was originally a script written for Frank Burns or not, but it does seem like it would fit him better.

I liked Klinger's West Point scheme. Scheme seems like it might have actually worked, gave lots of chances for Farr to do off the wall character acting.
