The Shower in Showtime

Talk about all things M*A*S*H -- the novel, the film, the television series, even the play. Not to mention the spin-offs, merchandise, cast, crew and anything else you can think of to talk about.

The Shower in Showtime

Post by TimFoust »

I am very mechanically inclined but for the life of me I still cant figure out how Frank rigged the shower to do that in the episode "Show Time"
Did you also notice the showers were facing the opposite way as in the other episodes. This one was about one of my favorites due to the fact Frank actually pulled pranks on Hawkeye. Totally funny stuff. The shower was the best though, even funnier than when BJ was the mad joker.

Good call on the showers facing the opposite way.

Yeah, I've pondered this myself...I don't know if it could be rigged to do that, or if someone would have to be adjusting the water flow at that time that Hawkeye switched stalls and used the other chain.

This scene would be cool to have a behind the scenes look at how some of the homemade special effects and gags were pulled off.

Short of someone manually changing a valve on him I don't see how that would be possible in real life. I suppose something he stands on could divert it from one to another but how do you factor with him changing the chain he pulls still it still goes to the opposite side?

They always show the other guy if they are using cohorts. Like when Hawkeye got Frank at the end, Hawkeye nods to the private and he cuts the rope or when BJ was the mad joker and got the core group to go along with the master joke. In this one they didnt show anyone helping leaving us to believe that he was alone in this prank. I have always wanted to try this one when I was in the military and we had field showers, which was a luxuray, most our showers were a 5 gallon water can and a guy standing on the hood of a duce and a half or a helment sponge bath. The only thing I can figure is when Frank leaves the shower he leaves kinda quickly, just enough time to turn the corner and by using a hole in the shower switches valves on the outside. Because the shower was co ed and a sign denotes women or mens shower there would be a hole in the tent.
