Re: (06x15) 137 - The Merchant of Korea

I'm guessing that it's the military custom that enlisted get paid first, because 1. The enlisteds are more likely to be living hand to mouth, and the officers are likely to be able to get credit if they need a loan until the snafu gets fixed. 2. You could pay a lot of enlisteds for what just a few o...

Re: Favorite Character?

It really depends... favorite to watch on TV, probably Hawkeye. But I wouldn't want to bunk with him. Favorite to share a tent with, B.J. Favorite to be my boss, Potter. Unless I were his clerk, in which case Blake. Favorite doctor to treat me if I were wounded with an ordinary combat inju...

Re: (06x05) 127 - War of Nerves

The method did work. The patient became much more fully functioning. So he hated his doctor... that's not as important as keeping him from being a nonfunctioning victim of combat fatigue for years or possibly his entire life.

Re: (05x25) 122 - Margaret's Marriage

Yes, Margaret treated him pretty badly. But he treated her pretty badly too. He lied about her family ring she had given him, called her names, etc.

Five seasons of Frank's hypocrisy were finally clear to her, and she was really mad at herself for putting up with it for so long.

Re: NURSE DOCTOR (08x07) 176

After Harris made a fool of herself with Father Mulcahy, I don't think she was about to fall for anyone else at MASH. And I didn't see Hawkeye being really smitten with her. To him, she was just a female, and he did the reflexive over-the-top flirting he did with all the new females.

Re: Charles' Friendships

I watched "Mr. and Mrs. Who?" today. Charles had some great soft moments there too.

Re: Charles' Friendships

Actually, Charles is from Beacon Hill, the bluest of Boston's blue blood neighborhoods. In think that's mentioned in "They call the wind Korea." Back Bay was water until the late 19th century, when it was filled in for housing. Nowadays it's a pretty nice neighborhood, but to the Boston Brahmins in ...

Re: Charles' Friendships

Charles will marry someday, but it won't be someone he met at MASH. It'll be some Boston society young woman who will be a Suitable mom to the future Charles Emerson Winchester IV. As far as temporary attachments, don't forget the French nurse. They got along great until he realized how bohemian she...

Re: (04x15) 087 - Mail Call Again

Margaret wasn't exactly a saint, and that made her a more interesting character than if she were. She had a continuing relationship with a married man. She enthusiastically ate the ham Frank stole during "Crisis". She hid her own stash of brandy in the supply tent and kept it a secret from Frank whe...

Re: (03x24) 072 - Abyssinia, Henry

We were generally stronger in the air, but we lost some too. And if they didn't want to take on fighters, going after a military transport plane might be a target they could handle. A lot of the soldiers were superstitious about getting killed just as they were about to leave or even on their way ho...

Re: Margaret's Engagement 05x02

Yes, I don't think they handled Frank's character very well. He could have been much more interesting as a seriously flawed character but with some redeeming qualities. For instance, he might have been as brave as he liked to let on, instead of always chickening out. Then they could have argued abou...
