Re: New Game: The Face is Familiar

I believe that's Lynette Mettey, who I remember best in The General Flipped at Dawn, as a nurse Hawkeye said he respected, only not enough for her to get her own name in the episode...

Re: (10x10) 228 - Twas the Day After Christmas

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but Boxing Day trading places really is a British tradition, not just putting away Christmas decorations. In many places of business, Boxing Day is when annual presents to the staff are given -- bottle of booze, annual bonus, etc. I think the caps like Radar wore ...

Re: Least Favorite Episodes

Least favorites to me, For Want of a Boot and The Great Longjohn Flap. Lots of dealmaking that falls apart, not much of any redeeming features. I am amazed that many people dislike seeing Charles. Frank, in my opinion, was an unbelievable butt of every joke, utterly incompetent at everything with no...

Is there really an Adam's Ribs in Chicago, near the Dearborn St. Station?

It came out very well, then, in my opinion. One of my favorite episodes. How's they get an actor with the right chemistry to play Scully at the last minute and no rehearsal time?

Re: (07x26) 173 - The Party

The hole I see is that travel was slow and expensive back then. Jet planes were a decade away. It would be workable for Hawkeye's dad to come from Maine in a day each way, probably, and as a doctor he had pretty good income, and Charles' family could certainly make it down from Boston. But for insta...

He didn't just lose Margaret as a girlfriend, he lost the only friend he had in camp too. Not surprising he was depressed.
One could even feel sorry for him.

Re: (08x04) 177 - Good-bye, Radar, Part 1

Yes, he was out of character, though I am not sure if it's Burghoff's feelings showing through or the way it was written. I think the episode would have been better without the back and forth of whether he's going or not, and done in a single half hour. Also, it is hard to believe Klinger getting th...

Re: User Ranks

Well, it would have to be an officer's rank, because they used it to get Radar into the Officer's Club. I had thought of it as between 1st Lieutenant and Captain, but I don't think it actually said in the episode.

Re: (06x16) 138 - The Smell of Music

I wasn't that crazy about the main plot of this one. Seems like a time when Potter would have put a stop to it, order Charles to limit the hours he plays the horn and order Hawkeye and BJ to shower. I understand that most of the time the C.O. needs to let people settle their own quarrels but once it...

Re: (06x15) 137 - The Merchant of Korea

I'm guessing that it's the military custom that enlisted get paid first, because 1. The enlisteds are more likely to be living hand to mouth, and the officers are likely to be able to get credit if they need a loan until the snafu gets fixed. 2. You could pay a lot of enlisteds for what just a few o...

Re: Favorite Character?

It really depends... favorite to watch on TV, probably Hawkeye. But I wouldn't want to bunk with him. Favorite to share a tent with, B.J. Favorite to be my boss, Potter. Unless I were his clerk, in which case Blake. Favorite doctor to treat me if I were wounded with an ordinary combat inju...

Re: (06x05) 127 - War of Nerves

The method did work. The patient became much more fully functioning. So he hated his doctor... that's not as important as keeping him from being a nonfunctioning victim of combat fatigue for years or possibly his entire life.

Re: (05x25) 122 - Margaret's Marriage

Yes, Margaret treated him pretty badly. But he treated her pretty badly too. He lied about her family ring she had given him, called her names, etc.

Five seasons of Frank's hypocrisy were finally clear to her, and she was really mad at herself for putting up with it for so long.
