"Margaret rarely shrieked anymore,"
Actually she yelled a lot in the later seasons

Clever wordplay, or....
....Cringe inducing dialog? My dislike of Seasons 8 - 11 is pretty well documented here, So when an old friend, who is a writer, was recently complimenting the "clever wordplay" of the later seasons, I thought "could it just be me that finds the puns & alliterations in seasons 8-1...

Re: (08x11) 184 - Life Time
The medical staff racing against time to save a man from certain paralysis unless they can replace a part of his aorta. It was a great idea. Unfortunately, this is season 8, and this episode unfortunately is marred by corny dialogue, and hammy over-acting. Alan Alda wrote quite a few episodes for th...

Re: (08x08) 181 - Private Finance
I agree, profiteering soldiers should've been nothing new to Hawkeye....my least favorite part of the episode is right after Hastings dies, the camera zooms in on an out-of-breath Hawkeye who says "when are we gonna find a cure for the common war. A prime example of the type of cringe inducing ...

Re: (07x21) 168 - C*A*V*E
A decent season 7 offering that supports 2 of my hypothesis:
1. M*A*S*H is better when most if not all characters are involved in the story,..
2. Hawkeye might very well be the most neurotic character in TV history

Re: (07x24) 171 - A Night at Rosie's
I've always thought of this episode as "The last hurrah". Season 8 is just around the corner with it's humorless, overly dramatic storylines, and cringe inducing dialogue. Following Hawkeye's lead, the entire camp migrates to Rosie for a day of debauchery (except for Charles), with a side ...

Re: (07x15) 162 - Dear Sis
Of all the "Dear.." episodes this is probably the weakest. while there has been discussion about Mulcahy's slugging the wounded soldier being out of character, there's an earlier scene in the OR where Mulcahy is accosted by a patient, while Potter says half jokingly "like to help you ...

Re: (07x07) 154 - None Like It Hot
Pretty enjoyable episode, and another one where the enlisted men (Klinger & Radar) excel. Ted Ghering is back, this time as a sleazy wheeling-dealing supply seargant, and just like his appearance in "the incubator", steals the scenes he's in..

Re: (06x21) 143 - Mail Call Three
The "Mail call" episodes have always been fun, and in this one, it's the enlisted men's chance to shine. Klinger get's a "Dear John" letter from LaVerne, but the rest of the camp dismisses it as just another scam to go home. His meltdown during movie night is the best scene in th...

Re: (06x09) 131 - Change Day
There's been quite a bit of speculation that this script was a holdover from the "Frank Burns era". Since Frank had very little to with the locals throughout his stay, having him suddenly befriending them, even for a slimy business deal, might seem a stretch. Whatever the case "Change...

Re: (06x08) 130 - In Love and War
M*A*S*H is at it's best as an ensemble cast. Apparently Alan Alda didn't get the memo, or chose to ignore it, as we're subjected to episodes like these from time to time. true story or not, this one's a clunker.

Re: (06x04) 126 - Last Laugh
Very good season 6 effort that features a young James Cromwell (anyone think he could easily have played BJ?) as BJ's practical joking pal, and a hilarious subplot with Klinger & an imaginary camel. The one negative is Margaret, who has entered her "shrieking sharpie" phase constantly ...

Re: Season 5 General Discussion
For me season 5 is much more character driven than the previous seasons. In probably the most pivotal change of the series, Margaret drops Frank and gets engaged. While it could be seen as personal growth, Margaret is callous & incredibly self absorbed about it, not caring about Frank in the lea...

Re: (04x03) 075 - Change of Command
I remember not knowing what to think when we learned at the end of "Welcome to Korea" that Harry Morgan was returning to the show as the new C.O. Were we going to get another Gen Steele? It wasn't long after Potter's arrival that we realize that this is a totally different character we're ...

Re: (03x07) 055 - Check-Up
Some very funny moments in this episode, as well as a great performance by Wayne Rogers, who as we learned in "Kim", is probably the best actor in the series. What doesn't sit well with me is The doctors NOT knowing that you don't get sent home with an ulcer. wouldn't they know as well as ...
