Re: (06x09) 131 - Change Day
I thought the money change racket was out of character for Charles. Certainly Charles likes having money and takes some sport in making more... but I think he'd see taking advantage of the locals as ungentlemanly and dishonorable. Even Charles pressuring his tailor to participate by holding out on w...

Re: (02x12) 036 - The Incubator
So many great bits in this episode! Guest stars did a great job, on quick parts that really moved along. The wreckage from the Party from Hell, with the turntable still turning around with the beer can on top. Sheila Lauritsen looking Trapper up and down "It's my job to say no." "You do it very well...

Re: Who Is Your Least Favorite Character On Mash?
Frank. No depth to his character. Every rotten characteristic anyone could have, he's got it: incompent, cheating, blames others for his mistakes, greedy, fake patriotism, .... His only purpose is to be the butt of jokes. His character doesn't grow or change like Margaret's. Once he and Margaret bro...

Re: Season 6 General Discussion
There is a wonderful post out just today by none other than MASH writer Ken Levine about the season six episode, The Merchant of Korea which followed the heavily melodramatic two parter, Comrades in Arms. The episode itself is very contrived with the premise that somehow Charles takes advantage of ...

Re: Season 8 General Discussion
I liked a lot of the Season 8 episodes. "April Fools", "Dreams", "Life Time" are among my favorite of the whole series. Charles' part in "Morale Victory" was excellent. I do think they spent too long on Radar's departure. That could have made one good episode. Stretching it to two didn't work. It wa...

Re: M*A*S*H in HD (and Widescreen)
I agree. Film, TV, etc., should be left in the original aspect ratio. MASH was made prior to planning for material to be released in wide format, but even material made later, the idea that a director could frame shots to look good in two different aspect ratios at the same time is a pipe dream. If ...

It looks like no one has answered. That was the Cowboy, from the episode of the same name. His real name was John

Re: Will Disney soon own M*A*S*H?
I'm not sure releasing it in HD would be a good idea. It was made in the age of broadcast TV, to be shown on low-resolution 480 lines sets, with lots of static and ghosting on the side. The details that HD would make visible would include a lot of things that weren't an intentional part of the show ...

Re: David Ogden Stiers Passed away
I watched "Fade out, fade in" tonight in his honor. He was a great actor, creating a character annoying enough to be a good foil and source of conflict, yet also sympathetic.

Re: (08x23) 196 - War Co-Respondant
An episode that comes across as forced and unnatural. If B.J. were going to stumble/be tempted again it seems that one of the nurses he works with on a regular basis is the natural choice. I like a lot of Season 8 but not this episode. Aggie did come across as a drifter who did not want romantic at...

There was a Sarah. Sarah Miller was one of the USO troop who got stranded at the 4077 in "That's Showbiz". The singer who sang Cockles and Muscles Alive, Alive O.Big Daddy O'Reilly wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2017 4:41 pmSarah is a really significant name for me, so I would remember if I ever heard it uttered on M*A*S*H . . . and I don't.
