Here are the full results:

Would you buy a soundtrack with music from M*A*S*H?

Yes (85%, 90 Votes)
 No (15%, 16 Votes)

Total Votes: 106

Although a soundtrack for the movie MASH is available, no music from the TV show has ever been released. The theme song has been released countless times but I don’t believe any of the multiple versions of “Suicide is Painless” out there are the actual music from the opening credits.

I would definitely buy a M*A*S*H soundtrack. I’d love to finally be able to listen to some of the incidental or background music without dialogue.

Obviously, based on the poll results, almost everyone agrees with me that a soundtrack would be nice to have. For those of you who voted no, why don’t you want a soundtrack?

  1. I would love to access all of the various music for the show — not just the theme music but all of the ‘pop songs’ used throughout the run. From “Sentimental Journey” to Loudon Wainwright’s contributions as well as those great American songs sung in (I assume) Japanese — they were used in the background several times in the early seasons but seemed to disappear later on.

  2. The closest thing we’ve ever gotten to a soundtrack of the show is the Just the FAQs game on DVD that utilizes a lot of the incidental music cues.

  3. The 2 pieces of music from the show I really would like are ‘Memories of Henry’ from ‘Abyssinia, Henry’ and the jazzy version of ‘Blue Moon’ played in the O Club from ‘Hot Lips is Back in Town.’
