M*A*S*H Reference on Scream Queens

Last night’s episode of Scream Queens on FOX featured a lengthy reference to M*A*S*H. I’ve never seen the show, so I don’t know the characters or the storyline, but below you’ll find a video FOX uploaded to YouTube that includes the reference (skip to around 0:35):

In this scene, Chanel (played by Emma Roberts) doesn’t know that M*A*S*H is a TV show. When told by Dr. Brock Holt (played by John Stamos) that M*A*S*H is “only the most popular television show in the history of TV,” she insists Boy Meets World is in fact the most popular TV show ever.

I’ve added this to my M*A*S*H References on Television page.

  1. This scene is exactly is how I feel every time I try to talk about M*A*S*H with people my age (I’m only 21). LOL 🙂

  2. I can relate to the guy in this scene. I have nothing in common with today’s mindless social media aficionados.

    1. Yes indeed. Well, perhaps not in real life, but at least as far as the internet goes, there’s places like this, where like-minded people like us can congregate, so-to-speak, and indulge in our shared interests. But other than that, I don’t know of too many people my age and/or generation that would even bother with classic TV shows, which they’d probably find hokey and stupid – today, it’s all about the sex and body part humor and such. Tis a shame.

      1. And I’ve actually proven my point: if you actually look at the comments for this video on YouTube, you’ll see a few young people commenting on how boring they think M*A*S*H is.

  3. I never bothered with this show, because Lea Michelle is in it, and I feel like it was totally unnecessary to give her a new show immediately after GLEE ended (but then again, Patrick Warburton was recently given a new show, and his just ended as well; likewise, Jason Segel is wanting a HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER REUNION special already, even though that show just ended too) – but then again, I believe the creator GLEE created this show as well, so that may have something to do with it. Even though GLEE is an awful show.
