In month’s past I’ve noted that sometimes classic episodes, while memorable and impressive, aren’t necessarily always favorites. This time was different. I voted for “Movie Tonight,” which is both a classic episode and one of my favorites.

  1. Not really a comment on THIS poll, but wouldn’t it make sense for the June poll to combine the first and second parts of “Comrades In Arms” into the one singular ballot item?

    1. I don’t know. There might be someone out there who really liked “Comrades in Arms (Part 1)” but hated the second half.

  2. I voted for what I think is the best episode of the show ‘The Abduction of Margaret Houlihan.’ It’s a laugh riot and bonus, it has Col. Flagg and his paranoia as guest stars.

    Where’s Houlihan??
    I think it’s near Dublin.

    But sir, it’s Reader’s Digest.
Not if you eliminate the third, fifth and sixth letters. Then it’s Red’s Digest, comrade.

    Sir, Margaret is missing.
So naturally, you shot Capt. Hunnicutt.

Great episode and my absolute favorite to watch over and over and over.

  3. “Dear Sigmund” is a good one, a really good one, truly a gem of the series.

“Souvenirs”, while I agree isn’t great, problem deserved a little better recognition, mainly because it included one of Klinger’s zanier schemes: sitting onto of the basketball hoop all day and all night.

Like the previous poll, this was also a tough one to vote in, but I ultimately decided to vote for “Movie Tonight”. If you read my M*A*S*H Story on the forum recently, I mentioned from the spring of 2006 to the fall of 2007 I was suffering through my second (and thankfully last) bout of depressing, but there was one particular night during this period where something amazing happened: I actually had a good night. On this night, while sitting in a darkened living room, I watched TV, and among the shows I watched that night included “Movie Tonight”, followed by the “Earthquake” episode of SANFORD AND SON, then hopping over to my local FOX to watch “The Cigar Store Indian” episode of SEINFELD. It was the first night in a long time I felt somewhat happy, as these episodes of shows reached me, so I hold a special place in my heart for “Movie Tonight”.
