Last month, as part of the Great 2015 M*A*S*H Episode Poll, visitors to MASH4077TV.com voted “Tuttle” their favorite episode from Season One of M*A*S*H. In second place was “Sometimes You Hear The Bullet,” with “The Longjohn Flap” rounding out the Top 3.

A total of 141 votes were cast and all but two episodes from the first season received at least one vote. The two episodes nobody voted for were “The Moose” and “Love Story.”

Here are the full results:

  1. Tuttle (18%, 26 Votes)
  2. Sometimes You Hear The Bullet (13%, 18 Votes)
  3. The Longjohn Flap (10%, 14 Votes)
  4. Yankee Doodle Doctor (9%, 12 Votes)
  5. Dear Dad (8%, 11 Votes)
  6. Chief Surgeon Who? (8%, 11 Votes)
  7. The Army-Navy Game (6%, 8 Votes)
  8. Dear Dad, Again (4%, 6 Votes)
  9. Germ Warfare (4%, 5 Votes)
  10. I Hate A Mystery (4%, 5 Votes)
  11. M*A*S*H – The Pilot (3%, 4 Votes)
  12. Sticky Wicket (2%, 3 Votes)
  13. Bananas, Crackers and Nuts (2%, 3 Votes)
  14. To Market, To Market (2%, 3 Votes)
  15. Cowboy (1%, 2 Votes)
  16. Edwina (1%, 2 Votes)
  17. Major Fred C. Dobbs (1%, 2 Votes)
  18. Showtime (1%, 2 Votes)
  19. Ceasefire (1%, 1 Votes)
  20. The Ringbanger (1%, 1 Votes)
  21. Requiem for a Lightweight (1%, 1 Votes)
  22. Henry, Please Come Home (1%, 1 Votes)
  23. The Moose (0%, 0 Votes)
  24. Love Story (0%, 0 Votes)

To be honest, I’m a little surprised “Edwina” received even one vote considering how many fans seem to hate the episode. I voted for “Requiem for a Lightweight” and was the only person to do so. It may not be the best episode from Season One but it introduced the late Marcia Strassman as Lt. Margie Cutler and she’s my favorite nurse from the series so the episode got my vote.

Hit the comments with your reactions to the results. Which episode did you vote for and why?

And don’t forget to vote in this month’s poll, which asks visitors to chose their favorite episode from Season Two. I’ll probably extend this poll until March 2nd to make up for February being such a short month.

  1. I think for 2016 you need to do another year-long poll but this time do everyone’s most hated episode. Do it the other way around and see which one is voted the worst episode ever of MASH.

    1. I would have to agree. As much as I enjoy the show, there are a few episodes that I refuse to watch! I’d like to vote on that.

    2. Great idea. The best part is it saves me from having to come up with 12 more polls next year. Someone will have to remind me in December.

  2. Season One was a hard season to vote in, because I had so many favorites from that season, but I ultimately had to go with “Cowboy” for sentimental reasons: it was the first episode I ever taped when I first started watching M*A*S*H ten years ago.

Season Two will be easier to vote in, mainly because it’s a season I get bored with easily, but I know which episode I’ll be voting for.

  3. I voted for Sometimes You Hear the Bullet. This one had a little bit of everything in it. And I love Henry’s little “Two Rules” speech. Excellent scene.

  4. I voted for ‘Dear Dad, Again.’ I was torn between that and ‘Edwina,’ the latter which was my very first M*A*S*H episode ever. Should I be loyal to that or just vote for the one episode I watch above all others in Season 1?? So, ‘Dear Dad, Again’ won over all that. It’s a great episode and very funny (especially the camp band with Henry wielding the baton)

  5. I’m glad Tuttle won the poll. Tuttle is my all time favorite episode of the series. It’s so over the top silly and it works so well.

  6. Wouldn’t you know, DECADES chose a few random episodes for its Daily Binge highlighting ‘strong women in Television’ and they picked “Edwina”.
