M*A*S*H and Trapper John, M.D. Scripts Sell for $310

The collection of 38 scripts from M*A*S*H and Trapper John, M.D. that I wrote about back in October sold last week for $310.70 (with a buyer’s premium) as part of Heritage Auction Galleries’ 2009 November Signature Music & Entertainment Auction #7011. A separate M*A*S*H script, a revised draft of “Sometimes You Hear the Bullet,” sold for $79 (again, with a buyer’s premium).

  1. I don’t claim to be the most business-savvy person in the world (I ain’t no Wayne Rogers, lol), but what exactly does “buyer’s premium” mean?

  2. It’s a fee the buyer pays to the auction house on top of their winning bid. In this case, Heritage takes 19.5% of the winning bid. It is a way for the auction house to make even more money (they typically take a percentage of the final price before paying the seller).
