This was one of my favorite episodes, I thought it was a really interesting plot, and the experience of temporarily losing vision seemed to be a life-altering one for Hawkeye... it was certainly interesting to see that loss of sight seemed to highten his other senses: hearing, smelling, touching, etc. My only minor quibble is that Alan Alda surely must have been able to see through the bandages around his face, because Hawkeye was a little too spot-on at times facing another character, or reaching out to touch certain objects... he even seemed to prepare himself to bump into the stove in the Swamp before Klinger took him out.

It should also be noted that this episode introduced two of the recurring nurses who would continue to appear for the next seven seasons: Able (Judy Farrell) and Bigelow (Enid Kent); this was also the first episode written by Ken Levine and David Isaacs - I read Ken's blog very often, he's very insightful in the world of television production (though he can get quite blue at times).
