M*A*S*H Art

Talk about all things M*A*S*H -- the novel, the film, the television series, even the play. Not to mention the spin-offs, merchandise, cast, crew and anything else you can think of to talk about.

M*A*S*H Art

Post by Big Daddy O'Reilly »

Has anyone here ever attempted to do M*A*S*H art? Being an artist, I have, and feel like sharing some of what I have...

Years ago, I used to also be an amateur cartoonist, and throughout 2006, I infrequently worked on a M*A*S*H comic strips series...

Admittedly, I look back, and I'm not proud of this, mainly because most of the comics were done when I was suffering from a bought of depression, which is what lead to my "retiring" as a cartoonist; the duration of the comic mostly took place during the B.J./Potter/Charles/Radar years, but there are three "Flashback" comics (ala the three "Dear Dad" and "Mail Call" episodes) that feature Trapper, Henry, and Frank.

Aside from that, however, I do also do an occasional M*A*S*H drawing for deviantART, and here's some of what I've done within the past couple of years or so...

Ahhhh yes, I remember these drawings BD! Awesome stuff!

Usually when I attempt to draw a human, it's really bad. The only time I did draw was during Math class and even then, the doodles I did were bizarre. I like to draw lots of eyes and other strange looking objects. I don't really know why I do it but it's just something to pass the time for me. I think the inspiration comes from Tool's album covers and videos.

These are brilliant. I admire anyone who can draw as I'm useless at it. The only creative thing I can do is crochet.

Been a long time since I did any decent M*A*S*H art, so here's a couple of new things I had been working on, and finally finished today, both of which I'm really proud of:

Man, the Hogan's Heroes references in your art remind me of how mad I am that they cancelled that show.

Yes, Hogan's Heroes ended up falling victim to the Rural Purge, not necessarily because it was a "rural" show, like Green Acres for example, but because the network thought only old people were watching it, and they wanted to draw in the teenaged and young adult audiences.

It's my understand that a seventh season of Hogan was in the works at the time they were canceled, and that that was supposed to be the proper final season, complete with an actual ending episode in which the war came to an end, and the prisoners were liberated. At least that's what I've heard, I haven't heard of any official confirmations about that, but both Werner Klemperer and Richard Dawson have mentioned the show was in production for seven years (Werner even saying they were to be on the air till 1972), and again, there's been hints and speculations that they were working on a seventh season.
