TV Land made its announcement on Twitter while Me-TV released a press release. The Me-TV tribute will involve two episodes airing from 7-8PM Eastern, starting this evening with “The General Flipped at Dawn” and “Change of Command” (I’m a little late posting this) and continuing through Friday, December 16th (excluding Saturday, December 10th).

As for TV Land, based on the cable channel’s online schedule, the tribute episodes actually begin tomorrow at 6:12PM with “The General Flipped at Dawn” following by “Welcome to Korea, Part 1″ at 6:52PM and “Welcome to Korea, Part 2″ at 7:24PM (the episode originally aired as a one-hour special). On Saturday, the tribute continues with same three episodes will air beginning at 2:20PM, followed by another five episodes from 4:06PM to 7PM. And on Sunday, “Change of Command” kicks of the remainder of the tribute at 2:20PM. It runs through 7PM, with additional episodes airing from 7-8:30PM that do not appear to be part of the tribute.

Perhaps the single best performance given by Harry Morgan as Colonel Potter — “Old Soldiers” from Season Eight — will air as part of the Me-TV tribute on Wednesday, December 14th at 7PM. Monday-Friday from 5-7PM
Saturday from 2-4PM
Sunday from 2-4PM and 8-10PM

Based on Zap2it’s television listings, TV Land is more or less airing the series in order and at the moment is nearing the end of Season One. Note that episodes may not always start on the hour or half-hour. For example, this coming Saturday has episodes airing from 2-2:35PM, 2:35-3:09PM and 3:09-3:44PM (followed by an episode of The Andy Griffith Show). Thus, the two-hour block from 2-4PM is not entirely filled with M*A*S*H.

Whether these longer running times mean certain episodes are aired uncut or just with more commercials is something I cannot answer, because I do not get TV Land. Does anyone know?

The first begins tomorrow at 2AM and runs to 8AM. The second starts Sunday at 2AM and runs to 8AM, with “Memories of M*A*S*H” airing from 6-7:30AM. The third begins at 8PM on Sunday and runs to 6AM on Monday, with “Memories of M*A*S*H” airing from 9-10:30PM on Sunday and the “30th Anniversary Reunion Special” airing from 2-4AM on Monday. The fourth and final marathon begins at 8PM on Monday and runs to 6AM on Tuesday, with the “30th Anniversary Reunion Special” airing from 11PM on Monday to 1AM on Tuesday. All times are Eastern.

If you don’t have the series on DVD or your DVDs are in storage or you just want to turn on the TV and have M*A*S*H on in the background, you’ll have plenty of chances this weekend.

Previously, the network had aired paid programming from 2-4PM on weekends followed by movies. Beginning in October, movies will begin at 2PM with the occasional episodes of M*A*S*H and another sitcom, My Name is Earl, as filler when needed. Thus, M*A*S*H will no longer have a regular spot on the Ion Television schedule. In fact, based on the October schedule available here, M*A*S*H will air just once in October, on Sunday, October 24th from 1-1:30PM.

With M*A*S*H “resting” at The Hallmark Channel and more or less removed from Ion Television, that means only TV Land is still airing the series on a regular basis. Beginning later this month, it will be aired from 4-6AM Tuesday through Saturday morning and from 8-10PM on Saturday. The series also airs locally in some parts of the country.

A variety of Martha Stewart programming will be the cornerstone of the channel’s afternoon/early evening schedule starting in September, with sitcoms The Golden Girls, Who’s the Boss? and Cheers airing multiple times in the early morning, evening and late night. According to Sitcoms Online, the schedule may change as Hallmark learns how the Martha Stewart programming performs. M*A*S*H, along with Little House on the Prairie and The Partridge Family, are said to be “resting” and could conceivably return at any time.

M*A*S*H continues to air on broadcast network Ion Television and cable channel TV Land, although as of September Ion Television will only air M*A*S*H on Saturday afternoons when it is not airing a movie. As for TV Land, starting in September it will air M*A*S*H from 4-6AM on weekday mornings and 8-10PM on Sunday evenings.
