Both TV Land and Me-TV have announced plans to remember Harry Morgan by scheduling special tributes featuring some of the very best M*A*S*H featuring the late actor, either as General Steele (the character he played in “The General Flipped at Dawn“) or Colonel Potter. TV Land made its announcement on Twitter while Me-TV released a press release. The Me-TV tribute will involve two episodes airing from 7-8PM Eastern, starting this evening with “The General Flipped at Dawn” and “Change of Command” (I’m a little late posting this) and continuing through Friday, December 16th (excluding Saturday, December 10th).

As for TV Land, based on the cable channel’s online schedule, the tribute episodes actually begin tomorrow at 6:12PM with “The General Flipped at Dawn” following by “Welcome to Korea, Part 1″ at 6:52PM and “Welcome to Korea, Part 2″ at 7:24PM (the episode originally aired as a one-hour special). On Saturday, the tribute continues with same three episodes will air beginning at 2:20PM, followed by another five episodes from 4:06PM to 7PM. And on Sunday, “Change of Command” kicks of the remainder of the tribute at 2:20PM. It runs through 7PM, with additional episodes airing from 7-8:30PM that do not appear to be part of the tribute.

Perhaps the single best performance given by Harry Morgan as Colonel Potter — “Old Soldiers” from Season Eight — will air as part of the Me-TV tribute on Wednesday, December 14th at 7PM. TV Land has made some changes to its schedule and is now airing M*A*S*H at the following times:

Monday-Friday from 5-7PM
Saturday from 2-4PM
Sunday from 2-4PM and 8-10PM

Based on Zap2it’s television listings, TV Land is more or less airing the series in order and at the moment is nearing the end of Season One. Note that episodes may not always start on the hour or half-hour. For example, this coming Saturday has episodes airing from 2-2:35PM, 2:35-3:09PM and 3:09-3:44PM (followed by an episode of The Andy Griffith Show). Thus, the two-hour block from 2-4PM is not entirely filled with M*A*S*H.

Whether these longer running times mean certain episodes are aired uncut or just with more commercials is something I cannot answer, because I do not get TV Land. Does anyone know?

Recently, TV Land returned M*A*S*H to its Monday-Friday prime time schedule, airing the series from 8-9PM. I’m not sure if this is a permanent change or not but it looks like M*A*S*H will be seen from 8-9PM at least through September. I don’t get TV Land on my cable system and find its website infuriating (can you look at the schedule here).

I’ve brought back the M*A*S*H on Television page, now updated to include ION Life, for anyone interested in knowing when and where to watch M*A*S*H on TV. Yes, the episodes are likely cut for time (I don’t actually know for sure that ION, ION Life and the Me-TV Network show edited episodes) but not everyone has the complete series on DVD. And sometimes, you just want to turn on the television and have it on in the background.

You won’t find any information on where M*A*S*H is seen on television internationally or on local stations in the United States. All of the information I had was woefully out of date, so I removed it.

Hallmark Channel is having a two-day M*A*S*H marathon this weekend, which according to posts at the official Hallmark Channel community forums was promoted as early as last Saturday. The first portion of the marathon began this morning at 10AM with “M*A*S*H – The Pilot” and ended at 5PM following “Love Story.” It starts again tomorrow at 10AM with “Tuttle” and runs through 8PM with “The Sniper.” In all, the marathon includes the first 34 episodes of the series.

This appears to be a one-off marathon; Hallmark Channel’s listings through August 20th do not include additional episodes of M*A*S*H. As far as I know, this is the first time M*A*S*H has been seen on Hallmark Channel since July of 2010.

Broadcast network ION Television, which began airing M*A*S*H in September of 2008, no longer airs the series on a regular basis, using it instead as weekend filler. One episode aired this afternoon from 1-1:30PM and, according to TV Guide listings, it will air again later month on Saturday, June 18th and Saturday, June 25th at 2:30AM.

However, ION Life — a specialty digital network “dedicated to promoting active lifestyles and wellness” available on ION Television affiliates as a digital subchannel — does appear to be regularly airing the series, at least this month. Again, based on TV Guide listings, it appears the series is being shown in blocks from 6-11PM on Saturdays and Sundays (although on Sunday, June 19th it only airs from 6-8:30PM).

ION Life can also be found on certain cable systems. Check your local listings to see if you receive ION Life. I know I don’t. Why exactly M*A*S*H is being shown on a network focused on health and wellness is a good question.
