For the record, back in May 2015, “Dear Sigmund” was voted the favorite episode from Season 5.

Personally, I voted for “Bug Out” because I find the episode dull. It’s not a bad episode, just boring. I initially voted for “Hawk’s Nightmare” but changed my mind. Since it’s my poll, I was able to edit the results and switch my vote. I was thinking about “Bless You, Hawkeye” when I voted for “Hawk’s Nightmare.” The episodes are so similiar, I got them confused.

I’m curious to know why so many fans dislike “Margaret’s Marriage,” unless once again many people voted for their FAVORITE episode rather than their LEAST FAVORITE episode. I suppose fans of Frank may loathe “Margaret’s Marriage” because it was Frank’s last episode.

  1. I voted for “Post-Op,” I find it to be a very boring, dull, and forgettable episode – nothing about it stands out (except for, perhaps, Frank’s monologue about discovering what he was going to call the “Burns Blight”).

Don’t understand why “Margaret’s Marriage” got voted least favorite either . . . even though I like “Hawk’s Nightmare,” I guess I can understand why people might see it as another Alan Alda vehicle episode, that makes sense. I know a lot of people dislike “Hanky Panky” because of its hammered-in nature that B.J. isn’t above temptation, and while I still remember my shock of seeing “The Nurse” for the first time twelve years ago because I didn’t know Margaret had feelings, the episode as a whole has grown stale for me over the years. “Souvenirs” is really only memorable for Klinger sitting atop the basketball hoop. Not sure why “Lt. Radar O’Reilly”, “38 Across,” or “The Colonel’s Horse” were voted so high, I find each of them to be really amusing episodes.

    1. I voted Post-Op for the same reason. I’m not crazy about 38 Across though Klinger eating the jeep is funny. On the other hand, I do really like the Colonel’s Horse and Lt Radar O’Reilly.
I wonder if people’s issue with Margaret’s marriage is that it’s Larry Linville’s last episode and he doesn’t really get a great send off. I think him staring wistfully at the helicopter is quite a good but the tag with them getting all hot and bothered about Margaret;s honeymoon is weak.

      1. I will agree that’s the one syndicated cut that I think was smart: the tag for “Margaret’s Marriage” was really unnecessary, and quite cringeworthy. Frank’s longing yet subdued “Bye, Margaret” was much better.

  2. I found this particular poll to be thought provoking as I reflected on all of the Season 5 episodes to make my selection (I have seen all of these episodes quite a few times). Overall my impression of Season 5 is that it contains few outstanding episodes and few horrible ones. Most of these episodes I would rate good to very good.

In the end I selected the “Korean Surgeon” because I have always found the main premise of the story (passing the North Korean Dr. as an ally) is too unbelievable and hokey.

  3. I voted for ‘The Nurses’ simply because it was the first and last time we ever saw Margaret wanting to fit in with them. There was no indication she ever wanted to before and no indication after. This was supposed to be a humanizing episode for her, but her shrill shrieking kinda ruins the effect.
