MeTV Interviews: A Bittersweet End

Back in May 2015, MeTV aired “MeTV Remembers the M*A*S*H Finale,” a three-hour special presentation of the series finale featuring new interviews with members of the M*A*S*H cast and creative team. MeTV uploaded those interviews to YouTube in December 2015. Over the next 10 days, I’ll be posting each of the interview segments for everyone to watch and discuss. Read more about the MeTV interviews here.

Today we’re watching and discussing “A Bittersweet End,” which includes comments from Jamie Farr, Mike Farrell, and Burt Metcalfe:

Jamie Farr explains how he secretly wanted M*A*S*H to “go on forever because it was your life, it was part of your everyday existence.”

According to Mike Farrell, director Burt Metcalfe had to tell everyone to stop crying because they were so emotional about filming the final episode. The tears were real, says Farr. “You were leaving your family.”

“Everybody was having a difficult time,” Burt Metcalfe recalls. “The emotions were very raw.” Still, it was a memorable experience.

Check back tomorrow at 12PM ET for the next MeTV interview.

  1. I’ve watched the Grand finale at least 3 times from the very 1st time it aired, annnd I’m still in awe as to how cute “Radar” looks ! gary Burgoff is/was still my favorite character! I had just a much difficulty associating with guys as Radar did with the nurses! Buuut I never HAD a teddy bear to comfort me, my dad did all that!!! My heart goes out to: Col,Potter,Blake,Frank Burns,Fr.Mulcahy, and others we lost through the years! Even “Trapper John!” I think we lost Wayne Rogers like back in 2012? He really made me LAUGH! Thanks for the reruns! They make my week!
