Digital specialty network MeTV is paying tribute to the late Wayne Rogers this week, airing two episodes of M*A*S*H each weeknight in its regular 7-8PM ET time slot that heavily featured his character Trapper John McIntyre. Last night “Requiem for a Lightweight” and “Hot Lips and Empty Arms” were shown.

I’ve been catching up on the first 3 seasons as tribute and paying special attention to all of Wayne’s episodes. He really did have great comic timing and his lines, though fewer and fewer, hit their mark each time.
Especially memorable:
The Figure A and Figure B monologue.
“I peeked at the end, Frank. The devil did it.”
Trapper: “He’s not a pervert.” Margaret: “How do you know?” Trapper: “Because I’m one and he’s never at the meetings.”
Frank: “Bullets cost bucks, mister.”
Trapper: “I’d like that tattooed on my thigh.”
He’ll be missed!!
Indeed. Trapper’s comic timing is excellent.
