Discuss August/September 2014’s Poll

Last month’s poll asked visitors to vote for their favorite verse of the Army Song from “Movie Tonight” (Season 5, originally aired February 22nd, 1977). It was without a doubt the silliest poll question to date and I left it up for an extra month only because I was having trouble thinking of a new question to ask. Here are the full results:

Klinger (23%, 40 Votes)
Frank (21%, 37 Votes)
Hawkeye/B.J. (20%, 34 Votes)
Radar (14%, 24 Votes)
Father Mulcahy (11%, 19 Votes)
The Nurses (6%, 10 Votes)
Colonel Potter (3%, 5 Votes)
Margaret (2%, 4 Votes)

Total Voters: 173

Klinger’s verse squeaked out a win ahead of Frank’s verse, which in turn was only slightly ahead of the Hawkeye/B.J. verse. Poor Colonel Potter and Margaret only received a handful of votes apiece. Personally, I voted for The Nurses.

Preview October’s Poll:

It’s been three years since my September 2011 poll asked visitors how often they watch M*A*S*H so it seems like a good time to ask that question again. Are you watching more M*A*S*H today than you were in 2011? Less? About the same? Cast your vote.

  1. Margret clearly got sympathy votes. she had no votes at all till the end becuse her verse suck. all she talk about was Doanld and it got annoying and she sang about donald just for the sake of talking about him again. she didnt deserve any of the votes she got.

  2. I love Klinger’s verse, if only because it’s typical Klinger fashion (“Oh some guys like the Army, I think that it’s a mess, if it’s so damn terrific, how come I wear a dress?”) then to be met with boos and hisses and people throwing popcorn at him was hilarious!

If fact, “Our Finest Hour,” darn-near ruins it by cut straight to the last refrain after Klinger’s verse, thus it being met with applause and cheers rather than boos and jeers.

  3. I had a hard time selecting from these choices. Ultimately I picked Radar, but just by a hair over the others. These ‘large group’ movie night and social scenes (such as Henry Blake’s sex lectures) were always amusing to me throughout the series.

  4. I picked Frank’s line just because it is so darn funny and of course, Frank always had bad timing. Wanting to fit in but doing everything to sabotage it was just his specialty. Frank Burns was one of a kind!!
