This Week Wrap-up

Last September I kicked off a new blog feature called This Week on M*A*S*H, which week by week listed the episodes of M*A*S*H and AfterMASH aired during the corresponding week in the 1970s and 1980s. I thought it was an interesting concept and hoped others would as well.

The plan was always to end the weekly posts in March and not continue through the summer months chronicling repeats. It may return in September of this year, becoming a yearly tradition, but I haven’t decided yet. I meant to have this wrap-up posted a few weeks ago but got sidelined.

Most seasons of M*A*S*H ended in March. There were four that didn’t: Seasons Four and Eleven ended in February, Season Ten in April and Season Nine in May. So there weren’t a lot of episodes of the series aired during the last week of March. Only four originally aired in April and only one originally aired in May.

Here are the episodes of M*A*S*H (and related) that originally aired between March 16th and May 4th (and beyond):

For the record, “The Life You Save” only aired in May because it was pre-empted when it was originally supposed to air on Monday, May 30th, 1981 due to the attempted assassination of President Reagan. CBS was concerned about the content of the episode and decided to air a repeat instead. The episode was finally aired five weeks later and only after three weeks of repeats had been aired first.
