Actress Jane Connell, who played Red Cross worker Betty Halpern in Season Eight’s “Old Soldiers” (originally broadcast on January 21st, 1980) passed away on Monday, September 23rd at the age of 87. Best known for her work on the stage, Connell twice played secretary Agnes Gooch in the musical “Mame” on Broadway opposite Angela Lansbury as well as iin the 1974 film adaptation starring Lucille Ball.

Connell also worked in television, with a regular role in the 1976 NBC sitcom The Dumplings, as well as guest appearances on shows like Good Times, Love, American Style, All in the Family and That Girl. Obituraries can be found at The New York Times and The Hollywood Reporter.

  1. I first saw Ms. Connell on ‘Bewitched’ and then when I saw her as Betty Halpern, it took me ages to figure out where I had seen her before. RIP.
