Discussing July’s Poll

More than 500 people voted in last month’s poll. 526, to be exact. That’s more than any other poll to date. The previous high was 430 for September 2012’s poll (“Did you watch “M*A*S*H — The Pilot” when it originally aired on CBS in 1972?”).

August’s poll asked readers to vote for their favorite character. Hawkeye was by far the winner with 33% of the vote. Radar was second with 13% and Colonel Potter third with 12%.

Here are the full results:

Hawkeye (33%, 172 Votes)
Radar (13%, 70 Votes)
Colonel Potter (12%, 63 Votes)
Charles (7%, 39 Votes)
Colonel Blake (7%, 35 Votes)
Klinger (6%, 32 Votes)
Trapper (6%, 29 Votes)
Father Mulcahy (5%, 26 Votes)
Frank (5%, 25 Votes)
B.J. (4%, 20 Votes)
Margaret (2%, 15 Votes)

I’m actually a little surprised Radar wasn’t a closer second. I also find it interesting that Klinger beat out Trapper, although not by much (32 votes to 29). Personally, I voted for Trapper. He’s always been my favorite character.

  1. Personally, I voted for Charles. I thought it was great for the producers to put in a doctor who could operate at a high standard which is totally opposite of Frank’s character and be able to fit in and be very funny on several episodes.

    1. That was pretty much the point they made anytime they replaced a departed character: B.J. wasn’t the impulsive and happy-go-lucky womanizer that Trapper was, while Potter was a more efficient and by-the-book commanding officer as opposed to Frank.

      1. I think you mean Col. Blake here, as Frank, in his brief command, was more by-the-book than anyone.

  2. Frank is my fav..nobody cracked me up more..IMO..he brought out the best in the other characters and the way he reacted to Hawkeye/Trapper and BJ when they busted on him..priceless!..:-D
