Hallmark Channel is having a two-day M*A*S*H marathon this weekend, which according to posts at the official Hallmark Channel community forums was promoted as early as last Saturday. The first portion of the marathon began this morning at 10AM with “M*A*S*H – The Pilot” and ended at 5PM following “Love Story.” It starts again tomorrow at 10AM with “Tuttle” and runs through 8PM with “The Sniper.” In all, the marathon includes the first 34 episodes of the series.
This appears to be a one-off marathon; Hallmark Channel’s listings through August 20th do not include additional episodes of M*A*S*H. As far as I know, this is the first time M*A*S*H has been seen on Hallmark Channel since July of 2010.

Oh well, I was shocked to see the show on Hallmark today, I couldn’t figure out what the special occasion was and whatnot, considering ever since Martha Stewart practically took over the channel, I don’t watch it anymore; their I Love Lucy marathons are formulaic too, they always play the exact same episodes everytime (the Hollywood episodes, the Europe episodes, the Connecticut episodes, etc).

I’m with ya, BDOR – except for the Christmas season and when or if MASH is on, I don’t watch this channel anymore…
I can’t even watch TV Land anymore, I’m sick of those godawful sitcoms they’re mass producing and flaunting at us, like that Hot in Cleveland (which was already renewed for TWO seasons before Season One even aired), Retired at 35, and now they’ve given Fran Drescher a new sitcom as well.
Let’s face it, cable television is nothing it’s cracked up to be anymore…
– MTV no longer plays music (they even official dropped “Music” from their name recently)
– VH1 no longer plays music-based programming either (or those celebrity commentary shows barely)
– Cartoon Network hardly plays cartoons anymore
– Disney Channel is drowning in Hannah Montana and carbon copies of Hannah Montana
– TV Land barely plays classic series anymore save for westerns, and occasional sitcoms like Andy Griffith and Sanford and Son (both of which I happily own on DVD as well).
– Hallmark Channel is only good for occasional Lucy marathons, even if they are formulaic.
Just about the only cable channel out their that has consistent programming all the time is The Weather Channel. Bah-dum-bum-KSSHH
It is nice to see M*A*S*H on tv when browsing what’s on the tube, but they ruin some episodes with all the edits they made for syndication. I watched a couple episodes on Hallmark, but they usually remove some of the funniest scenes, and then its nice to have the dvds to watch with the episodes intact.
Yeah TV Land is pretty much a joke, has been downhill for several years now. I watch the occasional Gunsmoke, M*A*S*H and other classics, but their programming is pretty awful. I’ll check to see whats on, and its hours of modern garbage like The Nanny and Everybody Loves Raymond, which I can’t stand, or their terrible sitcoms and reality shows.
On a positive note, I just discovered this channel called Metv on the cable lineup here. I’ve heard of it from people, and seen it mentioned on here, but this is a real tv land. They have tons of classics – Lucy, Hogan’s Heroes, Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, My Three Sons, Bob Newhart, Cheers, M*A*S*H, The Honeymooners, Gunsmoke, The original Marshall Dillon, The Untouchables, The Twilight Zone and many others.
Raymond’s not a favorite of mine, but there are a few episodes that amuse me (mostly because of Brad Garrett, lol), but it’s a wonder that TV Land has never added Seinfeld to their lineup yet. I mean, I called it when they added Raymond, but I also predicted they’d soon include Seinfeld as well. *Shrug*
And it seems like different cable and satellite providers offer different classic/retro TV alternatives, but their lineups are pretty slim-pickin’s… I know WGN actually has a rotation of various classics, and right now, they appear to be pushing Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie, though sometimes they play others, even cartoons like Rocky and Bullwinkle… and of course every Halloween, Alice Cooper hosts an all-day marathon of uncut episodes of The Munsters.
I forgot to mention where I live, our retro network only offers like 50s westerns, 70s cop dramas, and McHale’s Navy.
