M*A*S*H Cast Still Gets Together for Dinner

This article about William Christopher at Omoha.com is a few days old (it was published on October 10th) so it’s too late to catch him in “Church Basement Ladies” at the Arts Center at Iowa Western Community College. But check this schedule to see where the musical will be next. For the most part I stopped reporting the current goings-on of the actors and actresses from M*A*S*H several years ago and if not for the inclusion of the following I wouldn’t have linked to this particular article:

Did he ever tire of playing Father Mulcahy?

“Certainly not,” he said. “There we didn’t have the same words every week. They were wonderful scripts. We started out with Larry Gelbart, a brilliant writer with a wonderful sense of humor. He could write serious material, yet find a way to make it funny when it needed to be.”

Gelbart’s recent death was shocking, Christopher said, but he still connects regularly with his former “M*A*S*H” co-stars.

“We get together every few months and have dinner,” he said. Farr, Loretta Swit, Mike Farrell and Harry Morgan are frequently part of the group.

“Alan Alda isn’t on the West Coast much, but when he is he always gets in touch. That’s an occasion to get together.”

At the risk of sounding absurd, I do wonder if they ever slip into character around the dinner table.
