Anne Pitoniak Dies at 85

According to The New York Times actress Anne Pitoniak, who replaced Barbara Townsend as Colonel Potter’s beloved Mildred during the short second season of AfterMASH, passed away on April 22nd at the age of 85.

Better known for her stage work — she received two Tony nominations — Pitoniak began acting in her 50s and debuted on Broadway in ‘night, Mother opposite Kathy Bates.

In 1984, TV Guide explained the switch, stating that the producers of AfterMASH wanted Mildred Potter to act more like Gracie Allen. AfterMASH was cancelled in October 1984. Barbara Townsend passed away in January of 2002.
