Character actor Bruno Kirby, who famously had a bit part in the very first episode of M*A*S*H, has died at 57, according to a CNN.com obituary.

Kirby played Pvt. Lorenzo Boone in “M*A*S*H — The Pilot,” which aired September 17th, 1972. He was credited as B. Kirby, Jr. The character of Boone was played by Bud Cort in the 1970 feature film. Robert Gooden appeared as Boone in several other episodes during the first season before being phased out along with several other minor characters.

Kirby is probably best known for his supporting role in the 1989 film When Harry Met Sally.
